End of dreams and ambitions for Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai. Subscribers to co -development, Ubisoft Indian teams were proud to take care of the development of Prince of Persia: the sands of time remakes and gain visibility as well as creative responsibilities. But after more than a year late and not the slightest crumb to give to the public, Ubisoft prefers to change strategy and entrusted the development of the game to Montreal teams.
Since December 8, 2020, it has been five times that Prince of Persia’s Twitter account has published a tweet and five times that the same type of press release appears, whether it is to announce a postponement, to say that the game will not be present at Next Ubisoft Forward, to admit that the remake of the 2003 classic has simply no more release date and finally to give a simple sign of life, it was last October.
A situation that would lend to singering if it had not just led to such an unhappy conclusion for the Ubisoft Indian teams, which were obviously not tried at the height of the event. According to an article published in September 2020 by The Indian Express, a team of 170 developers worked on this project, whose release date therefore takes a nice blow on the box.
Ubisoft press release
“Hi to the fans of Prince of Persia,
The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal, at the very place where the epic trilogy of the sands of time was born.
This decision is an important step and the team, based on the work carried out by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time necessary to measure the extent of the game and offer you the best experience with this classic remake Timeless, once it is ready.
We want to thank you for your support and your patience throughout development. Be sure that we will keep you informed of our progress in a future development. “
